The Imaging Wand is a useful tool used in Neurosurgery. The neurosurgeon can
navigate with precision within the skull and locate lesions even few millimeters
in size. With proper pre-surgical planning the surgical opening into the cranial
cavity is smaller and patients often have less pain after the operation. The ability
to localize lesions and their structural relationship to surronding blood vessels
or cerebral structures has enhanced microsurgical techniques.
The image below
offers the neurosurgeon a 3-dimensional view of the area of interest.
